Hi my name is Desirae! I am currently a stay at home Mom to our son Oliver and a wife to Kyle who is a farmer in the Rolling Hills area. I was originally born and raised on a farm in the same area. I left home and began my education in Medicine Hat where I played college level volleyball for 3 years. I finished my education at the University of Alberta and found myself back in the area teaching.
I have always been passionate about health and fitness, and developed a love for coaching kids, especially in the sport of volleyball. When I returned after my schooling I needed to find exercise that interested and motivated me, and that is where I came upon Crossfit, and fell in love with the feeling of really pushing myself. That has sparked me to try other avenues of exercise which include a sprint triathlon, two half marathons, spin classes and numerous other fitness classes. I always found that I was at my best mentally when I was working out regularly, and that I had more drive and motivation in my life. Although I maintained a consistent fitness level my weight continued to yo yo, as my eating habits and nutrition went from fad diet to Christmas to fad diet to Easter, and you know the rest.
I am someone that has struggled a lot with moderation in eating, and also portion sizes. I always justified my eating choices, by working out more, however I wasn’t seeing the results at the gym, and still lacked energy. Now having gone through a pregnancy where I really lacked will power in the eating department and gained 60 pounds I knew I needed to find something to get my health back on track.
I had done the Whole By Nutrition program two previous times, and really enjoyed it. I loved the coaching support, the recipes, and the results that I saw. I realized that no matter how much I worked out, if I didn’t pair this with my eating habits I wouldn’t see the results I was looking for, so I jumped in with two feet. The Whole By Nutrition program offered me such great support, and a sustainable lifestyle for our family.
I would say my greatest attributes are unwavering support, understanding the challenges that come with changing your habits, and always being willing to learn, knowing that some of my greatest learning moments have come from teaching others. I look forward to joining you on your journey to lifelong health.
