I love the beginning of a new year! I feel like a new year is a fresh new start! And this one seems especially exciting because it’s also a new decade! I also love making new years resolutions, it’s a great way to set new goals and achieve new things!
Every year my team & I help people to do exactly that, achieve their new years resolutions. It’s not too late! Today I am going to share with you how you can still set new years resolution that will stick.
Unfortunately statistics show that by this point into the new year most people will have given up on those resolutions and will not achieve them. So that means that dreams and goals have been given up on and just pushed to the side again.
I don’t want that to happen for you, all of our friends here.
So, what can we do to make a resolution that will stick so that we aren’t one of those that give up on our goals and dreams for this new year?
Well, I like to think of a a new years resolution kind of like a destination on your GPS.
First of all of course, you need to know where you are, where your starting point is, then you need to know where your destination is, where you want to get to, and then you get a plan of how to get there!
First of all you need to take a take a good hard look at where you currently are. Every single year weight loss is one of the most common new years resolutions that people make, and that just happens to be my area of expertise. So let’s use that as our example today. If getting healthier or loosing weight is your new years resolution like so many other people, then you need to take a look at where you currently are with your health and weight. That’s your starting point. That’s not always easy to do. Stepping on that scale or hearing what the doctor is saying about cholesterol or diabetes. Those numbers can be scary, but just like with the GPS we have to figure out where we actually are to be able to get a plan to get us to where we want to go.
That’s step #2. Decide your goal for this year, your resolution, where it is that you want to get to by the end of this year. What would you need to achieve by the end of this year for you to look back and say, That was a great year!! Then write that exact thing down.
Finally, the part that is going to make this a year that you actually achieve your new years resolution, that you actually reach that goal you desire: Make a plan to achieve that goal. Just like the GPS maps out a route for you to take to get to your destination, you need a route, a plan. You can do that yourself or you can get someone to do that for you. Again, going back to weight loss as our example. Make a plan of what steps you need to take to achieve that health and that weight loss for this year. Is it hiring a coach that will inspire you and make a plan for you, or maybe you want to do it on your own so that would mean finding recipes and workouts that will help you be healthy and drop that excess body weight.
It’s not to late, follow these steps and you will have a new years resolution that will actually stick. You look at where you are, where you want to be by the end of the year and you set a plan to get there so that you can actually accomplish it.
Of course my team and I would love to help you reach your goals this year! If you would like more information or a free consultation simply comment on this blog or send us a message, we are here for you!
