Change your thoughts change your life!
Particularly right now, but always really, there are so very many things that we can’t control in this world, but our thoughts/attitude/mindset is one thing that we can and it is the one thing that determines our mood and the direction of our life!
As I always say, what you focus on grows. You have a choice if you will grow the positive in your life or if you will magnify and grow the negative.
Negative is easy…listen to the news for 5 minutes, DONE.
But how can you focus on the positive, especially at this time when the world seems to be in chaos, well I’m glad you asked 🙂
Self Talk is HUGE! What you are saying inside of your mind has so so much power to encourage you or discourage you. Be aware of your thoughts…is this building me up or tearing me down?
Here’s 5 things you can do today to uplift your attitude, mindset, thoughts and life!!
1: What you fill yourself up with is where your thoughts will go. So, fill yourself with positivity. If ever there was an example of this it is now! I seldom watch the news as it seems so doom and gloom, it’s depressing. Instead of watching the dismal switch things up and listen to something uplifting! Youtube, audio books and podcasts that encourage and motivate you to be the best version of you are way more healthy and make a huge difference to your mindset.
2: Get a positive tribe. It’s a fact, you become like the 5 people that you spend the most time with. Are you mostly with people that talk about how bad everything in the world is, that the sky is falling and all things depressing? Yikes, that’s dangerous, it’s almost impossible to have a positive mindset when you are. Choose to surround yourself with positive people. Those that see the good in situations, friends that have uplifting conversations. There are a lot of us out there, you just might have to look! I have an incredible tribe that is super positive, it is amazing! When one of us is feeling less than stellar, the others are there to encourage and uplift! So be sure to be an encouraging friend and gather those same type of people around you!
3: On that note, who are you letting speak into your life via social media? The average person spends 2 1/2 hours on social media EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. THAT IS OVER AN ENTIRE MONTH OF YOUR YEAR!! Wow, that is a whole lot of information streaming into your mind and spirit. Is it good, positive and uplifting or is is negative and draining? This one is a very easy fix…it’s called UNFOLLOW.
4: Gratitude is PROVEN to be one of the best ways to improve your thoughts! This one is pretty simple too. Each day write 3 new things that you are thankful for. This changes your focus from all that is bad in your life to all that you have to be thankful for. And, what you focus on grows! You can simply keep a note in your phone, or on paper, or you can be so creative and fun with this, get a gratitude journal, add pictures, color in it, and so much more, have fun and make it enjoyable!
5: Finally: Look beyond yourself. Volunteer. When you are helping others it totally makes you realize how blessed you are. It’s easy to get caught up in thinking how bad we have it and how life is so sucky, but when you look past yourself and to helping others, that all changes! Volunteer opportunities abound all around us, and it’s a win win, you are improving your attitude and helping someone else at the same time!
